9 (Cheap) Date Ideas to bring you together
There's something about the idea of a date night that just makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We're talking about a “date” as in setting aside time to spend together and enjoying some quality one-on-one time.
And we know what you're thinking: That sounds like so much work! Who has the time to plan an actual date? We thought so too, but then we realized that planning a date night doesn't have to be hard—it just takes a little dedication and some creativity.
Date nights are a great way to connect with your partner. When you're looking for a cheap date night, it can be hard to find something that's both fun and affordable. If you and your partner are looking to save some money on date night, we've got a bunch of ideas for you!
(Also, be sure to mark the calendar for Family Fest in October and come celebrate with the whole family.)
Here are 9 cheap date night ideas that will help you save money and have some fun!
Movie night
If you and your partner love movies, you can't go wrong with a movie night at home! Pick a good one and make it cozy by bringing blankets or pillows and lighting some candles. Plan your favorite snacks or dinner and make it something special (not just a TV in the living room kind of thing.) Find some trivia or movie questions to bond over afterward and talk about your experience. Don’t forget to check out our movie Imposter Pastor.
Dinner at your favorite restaurant
You know what would be fun? Trying out a new restaurant together! A nice meal out with your loved one can be a great way to spend some quality time together without breaking the bank. You can also get cozy at home with some takeout from one of your favorite places around town. It's easy to find something that offers great food and ambiance in your area—and if not, there are lots of great online resources where you can look up restaurants around town. Don’t just think about it though … look at your calendar and mark the date. Then stick to it. We know how busy you can get.
Have a picnic in the park
Can you tell we love good food? Pack up some snacks, drinks, and dessert—whatever makes you feel like celebrating! Then head outside together and enjoy the end of Summer.
Visit an art gallery (or museum!)
Take a walking tour of your city and go to some museums or galleries. Art can be a great way to spend time together and learn about each other's interests. A museum is nice too, but art galleries tend to be less crowded and more intimate than museums. Plus, they're often free!
Go to the bookstore or library
Both are great places for people who like reading (or just like books). You don't need to go out of town or spend a lot of money to have a good time doing something different on your date night, like spending hours browsing through books at a local library—or even just checking out new releases at your favorite bookstore! If your store has a coffee shop, grab a latte together and find a nice spot to sit together quietly … something you might not get a lot of at home if you have kids.
Go bowling!
Ditch the phones and go bowling—a fun activity that doesn't cost much at all. There are lots of bowling alleys in most cities, so it's easy to find one near your location that fits your budget and schedule. And if your date wants to bring his or her own shoes, then it's an inexpensive date-night option!
Take a walk together
Taking a walk around town or through the neighborhood after dinner or out by the lake with just a flashlight and some snacks in hand is a great way to bond together as a couple. You'll get to know each other better this way, whether it's talking about what kinds of light bulbs you want in the new house together or just getting lost exploring your surroundings. Take the opportunity to check in with each other and see what is on each other’s mind.
